Project Overview: 

The Bonobo Byron Bay is a high-end hotel and apartment development located in the centre of Australia’s favourite beachside town.  The site borders a natural wetland with high standing groundwater levels and acid sulfate soils.  Dewatering was therefore required for construction of the basement and all critical underground infrastructure. A wellpoint system consisting of 4x60L/m perimeter systems, along with up to 6 internal sumps was used to dewater the excavation. Ground water quality was extremely poor with high levels of dissolved metals experienced for the duration of the project. Heavy metal removal rates of 95-100% were consistently achieved through Clearpro’s onsite water treatment system achieving  all necessary environmental regulations.
